Many of us do not know how to differentiate gay and bisexual. Some do not know how to use these terms properly. Some call themselves bisexual because they think bisexual means less gay. They believe gays are effeminate that's why if someone is attracted to a man yet he is manly, he is not gay.
But is it really about like that? Does the difference lie between who is manly and who is effeminate? Is it true that gays and bisexuals are two different things? The chart below explains and defines what a gay is and what a bisexual is.
The chart above simply says that even though you're bisexual, you are still gay. Always bear that in mind. Gay has two kinds: homosexual and bisexual. Homosexual is defined as someone who is sexually attracted to a man only. On the other side of the fence, bisexual is someone who is sexually attracted to both men and women.
So for the question what is the difference between gay and bisexual, gay is a more general term. Bisexual is a subset of gay. All bisexuals are gay but not all gays are bisexual.
To those who don't know how to use the word bisexual properly
Not just because you're handsome and you're not soft, you are already bisexual. Call yourself bisexual if and only if you are EQUALLY and SEXUALLY attracted to both men and women. Bisexual is someone who puts his hand inside someone else's pants and it doesn't matter to him if he finds a pussy or a dick. If you're just attracted to a man, no matter how manly you are, you are not bisexual. You are homosexual.
My Opinion to Those Who Use These Non-interchangeable Terms Erroneously to Console Themselves
I always get irritated when some gays label themselves as bisexual erroneously. They don't want to be labeled as gay because they think that gay is effeminate. Gay wears makeup like a drag queen. Gay has a slutty image. But seriously, this mentality is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Even though someone is good-looking and manly, as long as he is sexually attracted to a guy, he is gay!
Stupid pictures that irritate me
Yeah keep believing that you are not gay. Once you are attracted to men, you are gay!
If you're not straight, then you are automatically gay. Even though you just like sex with men for fun. The fact that you find it fun, enjoying and pleasurable makes you gay. Come on! Don't deny it sis!
For the record, gays can be manly!
One of the reasons why people don't want to use the term gay is because they think that all gays are effeminate which is actually not true. I divided gays into four categories: the traditional, the modern, the combination, and the discreet.
#1: The Traditional. I call this as The Traditional because this is what the people have in their heads. Traditional gays are obvious and effeminate gays. They always wear makeup and dress like a woman. They want to look beautiful.
#2: The Modern. Modern gays dress like a man but still you can distinguish them from straight men when they talk. They are soft. Though they are gay, they still want to look handsome in the sight of others. In fact, some of these gays go to gym to develop muscles and abs. Some celebrities like Fifth Solomon and Sebastian Castro fall under this type.
Fifth Solomon, who is an admittedly bisexual, falls under the Modern Gay category. |
Sebastian Castro admits that he is gay. However he doesn't wear feminine clothes. He goes to the gym regularly to develop muscles. |
#3: The Combination. They wear men's clothes but they still wear makeups. I am not sure if they want to be beautiful or handsome.
#4: The Discreet. They are unnoticeable gays. You cannot notice their gay blood because they dress and talk like a straight man. People do not think they are gay because of their manly behaviors. Girls, be careful. Not just because they have crunchy abs doesn't mean they are not gays. Majority of this kind of gays are celebrities or famous and they are protecting their reputation they hide for their fans' sake. Ennis and Jack, of Brokeback Mountain, are examples of discreet gays.
Conclusion
No matter how manly you are, as long as you sexually attracted to men, you are still gay. The point of this article is not all about defining and differentiating these terms. I just like to clarify this to those who use the term bisexual erroneously even though they know to themselves that they are gay. It's okay if you don't like to admit that you are gay. It's okay if you prefer to use the word bisexual. But before you call yourself bisexual, ask yourself: Where's the girl?
